Style Goals: Light–Medium Hold · Low Shine · Texture & Tame

🌿 What It Does

This water-free pomade blends Castor oil (grip + conditioning) with a light lipid base for pliable, touchable hold. Beeswax sets structure while vetiver adds a subtle, clean-wood aroma. Great for short styles, waves, beards/mustaches, flyaways, and edge control.

🧴 Ingredients (40 g / 1.4 oz tin)

  • Beeswax — 8–10 g (firmness; raise for stronger hold)
  • Castor oil — 12 g (grip, conditioning)
  • Squalane or fractionated coconut oil — 10 g (light slip)
  • Jojoba oil — 6 g (balance, reduces greasiness)
  • Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols) — 0.2 g (~0.5%)
  • Vetiver essential oil — 4–6 drops (keep total EO ≤ 0.5%)
  • Optional finishers (choose up to one): Kaolin clay 0.5–1 g (mattify) · Rice bran wax 1–2 g (vegan firmness, sub beeswax)

🔥 How to Prepare

  1. Sanitize a 40–60 g tin, beaker, spatula; allow to dry.
  2. In a heat-safe beaker, gently melt beeswax with castor, squalane/MCT, and jojoba over a bain-marie until clear.
  3. (Optional matte) Sift in kaolin and whisk smooth. Remove from heat.
  4. When below ~45 °C (warm, not hot), stir in vitamin E and vetiver EO.
  5. Pour into the tin. Let set at room temperature (avoid fridge to minimize sweating/graininess). Cap once solid.

🌸 How to Use

  • Warm a pea-size between palms until clear. Work through dry or slightly damp hair.
  • For texture: scrunch into mid-lengths/ends. For polish: smooth over flyaways and edges.
  • Beards/’stache: use a rice-grain amount to tame and define, then comb through.

🧭 How You Can Use This Recipe

  • For Personal Use: Everyday pliable hold without crunch or synthetic shine.
  • For R&D / Formulation: Tune hold by shifting beeswax ±1–2 g; trial rice bran wax for vegan; add 0.5–1 g kaolin for a more matte, grippy finish.
  • For Small Business: Position as “Natural Hair Pomade — Castor + Vetiver.” Offer 30–60 g tins; minimal, gender-neutral branding.
  • For Gifting: Pair with a pocket comb and a quick styling card.

🪶 Storage & Shelf Life

Anhydrous (no water)—no preservative needed; Vitamin E supports quality. Store cool and capped. Best within 8–10 months. If it softens in summer, let re-set at room temp.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Stronger hold: raise beeswax by 1–2 g or add 1–2 g rice bran wax.
  • Lighter feel: swap part of castor for squalane; keep total oils constant.
  • Matte look: include 0.5–1 g kaolin and apply on dry hair.
  • Finish control: a tiny amount goes far—build gradually to avoid over-application.

🌿 Why This Works

Castor adds natural grip and conditioning; beeswax provides structure and humidity resistance; jojoba & squalane deliver slip and fast hand-feel; vetiver offers a clean, enduring base note without overpowering.

⚠️ Note

  • External use only. Patch-test before first use. Avoid eyes.
  • Keep essential oils low for scalp and facial hair comfort.
  • Very fine hair: start with a half pea-size to prevent weigh-down.
