🌿 What It Does

This water-based concentrate uses a gentle, biodegradable surfactant to remove grime without harsh fumes. Lemon and tulsi add a naturally clean aroma, while a light builder system helps soft water performance so floors dry streak-free.

🧴 Ingredients (makes 500 ml concentrate)

  • Distilled water — 360 ml
  • Decyl glucoside (non-ionic surfactant) — 100 ml (~20%)
  • Lemon hydrosol — 20 ml
  • Tulsi (holy basil) extract, water-soluble — 5 ml (1%)
  • Sodium citrate (builder) — 5 g (1%)
  • Ethanol (optional, faster dry-down) — 10–20 ml (2–4%)
  • Preservative (broad-spectrum, water-phase) — per supplier rate
  • Citric acid solution (10%) — q.s. to pH ~6.0–6.5 (see Stone-Safe Variant)
  • Optional aroma accent: Steam-distilled lemon EO 10–20 drops, pre-solubilized (follow solubilizer supplier ratio)

🔥 How to Prepare

  1. Sanitize a 500 ml bottle, beaker, spoon, and funnel; allow to dry fully.
  2. In a beaker, add distilled water and lemon hydrosol. Dissolve sodium citrate.
  3. Slowly stir in decyl glucoside to minimize foam. Add tulsi extract and (optional) ethanol.
  4. Add preservative per supplier usage rate.
  5. Check pH; adjust to ~6.0–6.5 with drops of 10% citric acid solution. Mix gently.
  6. If using essential oil, pre-solubilize with a suitable natural solubilizer per supplier ratio; whisk in until uniform.
  7. Funnel into bottle, cap, and invert gently to combine.

🧽 How to Use (Dilutions)

  • Bucket mop: 25 ml concentrate in 5 L warm water (≈1:200). Mop as usual; no rinse needed on most sealed surfaces.
  • Spray mop / spot clean: 1:10 in a trigger bottle (e.g., 50 ml concentrate + 450 ml water). Lightly mist, then wipe.
  • Heavier soil: Up to 1:50 dilution. Test first.

🧭 How You Can Use This Recipe

  • For Personal Use: Mix one batch and top up a spray mop all month—fresh, low-fume cleaning.
  • For R&D / Formulation: Compare 15% vs 20% decyl glucoside; test ethanol vs no-alcohol; trial sodium gluconate in place of citrate.
  • For Small Business: Position as “Aromatic Floor Cleaner Concentrate — Lemon + Tulsi.” Offer 500 ml refills + measuring cap; minimal, eco-forward branding.
  • For Gifting: Bundle with a reusable glass spray bottle and microfiber cloths.

🪶 Storage & Shelf Life

Store capped, cool, and away from sunlight. With proper preservation and hygiene, best within 4–6 months. Shake gently before each use.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Stone-Safe Variant (marble/granite/terrazzo): Omit citric acid and keep pH ~6.5–7.0. Test on an inconspicuous area first.
  • Sealed wood: Use the spray dilution; avoid pooling. Dry with a microfiber pad.
  • Streaks? Reduce dosage or increase water; overly rich solutions can leave film.
  • Foam control: Add surfactant last and stir slowly; decant down the beaker wall.

🌿 Why This Works

Decyl glucoside lifts everyday dirt with low residue; sodium citrate softens water to reduce streaks; lemon and tulsi bring a bright, clean aroma that makes spaces feel freshly aired.

⚠️ Note

  • For hard, sealed surfaces only. Always spot-test first.
  • Avoid unsealed wood, waxed floors, and natural stone if using the acidic version.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not ingest. Avoid eye contact.
